Site Preparation and Grading
Site Preparation and Grading in Waco
Grading is where most of our recent projects begin. Ambrozia-avl clears the parcel, strips and stockpiles topsoil, balances cut and fill across the site, and shapes the ground from rough grade to finish grade so it matches the engineer’s grading plan. The result is a compacted subgrade with correct pad elevations and drainage slopes, ready for footings, slab, or paving. On Waco’s expansive clay, that discipline is what keeps a pad from moving after the build.
Why Grading Done Right Matters
- Drainage first. Positive slopes move water away from structures, which protects the foundation and satisfies the site’s stormwater plan.
- Stable pads. Structural fill placed in lifts and compacted to 95 percent of maximum dry density gives the slab a bearing surface that holds.
- Balanced earthwork. A cut and fill takeoff keeps imported dirt and haul-off to a minimum, which controls the cost on a full acre.
Our Process
We call 811 for the locate, review the grading plan, and stake the cut and fill. Laser and GPS grade control guides the dozer and excavator so elevations hit spec on the first pass, then we finish grade and can test compaction with a nuclear density gauge when the spec requires it. A typical lot near Bosque Boulevard runs a day or two.
